Tir Natur

Bringing nature back, together.

Who are they?

Tir Natur was founded to address nature and climate emergencies in Wales. Their purpose is driven by a passion for nature, alongside understanding the magnitude of problems facing our wildlife and natural landscapes.

Three main aims for Tir Natur include inspiring landowners, by showcasing the beauty of rewilding, connecting people with projects, and informing communities of the benefits their work brings to all.

The phrase “Tir Natur” means “Nature’s Land” in Welsh – and is pronounced “Tier Nat-eer”.

What do they do?

To achieve their goals, Tir Natur purchases land to restore nature through rewilding, while inspiring other landowners to do the same.

As a focal point for nature recovery in Wales, Tir Nature also connects the rewilding projects of other charities and communities with each other through their Wilder Wales Network

Additionally, Tir Natur promotes the principles of rewilding through addressing misconceptions and changing narratives surrounding the large-scale restoration of ecosystems.
