It can be hard to find a treat that your cat will enjoy time and time again, especially if you have a multi-cat household. Thanks to our partners, Pets & Friends, we were sent some different treats for the kitty critics to munch on, so you can see them tried before you buy!
The kitty critics
Let’s take a look and see who’s ready to put these treats to the taste test...
Lauren, Seren and Chloe
Seren and Chloe are intelligent 2-year-old Siamese cats who love nothing more than tearing around their home, shouting at their human servants, playing, cuddling their family and being general goofballs.
Harri and Smartie
Smartie is a 20-year-old Moggy/Tuxedo cat. She is deaf and starting to slow down a little, but this certainly doesn’t stop her playtime or love of snacks! Her favourite activity is to sleep on her chair next to me while I work, or to sit on my keyboard and bat at me to demand treats.
Lauren, Lulu and Poppy
Lulu is a nine-year-old long-haired moggie who is as soft on the inside as she is on the outside! A typical kitty princess, Lulu knows how beautiful she is and is incredibly skilled in using her charms to gain treats and toys from the neighbours, before coming home for even more attention and cuddles from us.
Poppy is Lulu’s short-haired sister! Poppy is our little wild child. She’s a typical cat in that she can be very aloof; she loves nothing more than zooming around the house just as we’re trying to get to sleep and she takes great pleasure in waking us all up early doors with a satisfying carpet scratch.
Catit Creamy Treats Salmon & Prawns
Pros
- Seem to be tasty
- Easy to eat
- A fun interactive way of feeding
- Freezable!
Cons
- Not resealable
- A little messy
- Low protein content
Longevity 4/5
Lauren, Seren and Chloe
These treats were long-lasting, we never finished one tube between the two cats, we would store these in the fridge covered in cling film until the next day and still couldn’t finish it!
Enjoyment 3/5
Harri and Smartie
Another solid 5/5 for how much she enjoyed it. Smartie simply went kooky for Catit!
Value for money 4/5
Lauren, Lulu and Poppy
Relatively good value for money, the treat is long-lasting and can’t be devoured in one wide-mouthed swoop like other, more biscuit-type, treats. However, you do only get four in a pack and each individual treat isn’t resealable for cats like mine, who would struggle to finish it in one sitting – which might lead to a bit of wastage.
Would you buy this product again?
Lauren, Lulu and Poppy
While it’s a fun treat to give as it involves owner interaction and Lulu seemed to enjoy the flavour, we probably wouldn’t buy these again for Lulu as she much prefers treats that are easier and quicker to eat – the minimum effort, maximum reward type treats!
Where or when would you think about using the product?
Harri and Smartie
I will be using the product again (in moderation) to spoil her, but also will be looking to try it out in its frozen form on a hot day, as she struggles in the heat.
Final verdict 5/5
Lauren, Seren and Chloe
These looked the most appealing to me as you can use them in so many different ways including as ice pops! It was certainly more interactive for the cats and a different way to give them a treat.
Whiskas Dentabites Cat Treats with Chicken
Pros
- Fun fish-shaped treat
- Not messy
- Resealable packet
- Easy to open
- Added vitamins and minerals
- Good protein source
Cons
- Hard for some cats
Longevity 5/5
Harri and Smartie
A high-quality, veterinary-approved product packed with vitamins and minerals. The recommended feeding amount is up to 17 minerals a day, meaning the packet will last around a week.
Enjoyment 4/5
Lauren, Seren and Chloe
Seren and Chloe both loved the smell and taste of these treats. They really enjoyed breaking these treats apart and savouring them. There was a lot of lip licking and crunching.
treats we’ve tried, she had even longer to really enjoy the flavour.
Value for money 5/5
Lauren, Lulu and Poppy
Good value for money, especially if you can get them while they’re on sale. I don’t think we would need to give too many in one sitting and with the resealable packaging these will keep us going for quite a while.
Would you buy this product again?
Lauren, Lulu and Poppy
We’ve never tried Whiskas treats before (although our cats do eat Whiskas food daily) but we’ll absolutely be adding these as a regular fixture to our treat supplies! Lulu seemed to really enjoy them, the fish shape is a nice little added perk, the resealable packaging will keep them fresher for longer and they’re good value for money.
Where or when would you think about using the product?
Harri and Smartie
I would use the treats in moderation to help support Smartie’s dental health for times in between her teeth cleans.
Final verdict 5/5
Lauren, Lulu and Poppy
Despite feeding the cats Whiskas wet food daily, we’ve never actually tried them on Whiskas treats before. Lulu seemed to really enjoy them, she actually took her time to chew them unlike other similar treats where they are hoovered up instantly and we’ll definitely be adding these to our kitty treat inventory!
Dreamies Cat Treats with Cheese
Pros
- Great smelling
- Resealable packet
- Easy to open
Cons
- A little messy
- Devoured too quickly
Longevity 5/5
Lauren, Seren and Chloe
The packet can be resealed which is great, and the pack is huge, so the treats will last a few months in this household. The treat themselves were inhaled, Chloe does chew them up, but Seren would bite once and swallow them whole.
Enjoyment 4/5
Lauren, Lulu and Poppy
Lulu absolutely devoured the Dreamies – she really enjoyed them. We are big long-time fans of Dreamies so no surprises there, although we haven’t ever fed the cats the cheese-flavoured ones before, so this has opened up a whole new world of flavours for us!
Value for money 5/5
Harri and Smartie
The mega pack is certainly affordable for just how much you get in the packet.
Would you buy this product again?
Lauren, Lulu and Poppy
Yes absolutely, we’ve been feeding the cats Dreamies for a long time and will definitely continue to do so.
Where or when would you think about using the product?
Lauren, Lulu and Poppy
For those random treat moments, as a reward following a grooming session, or a trip to the vets and also, with thanks to the scrunchy packaging, whenever we need to lure the cats out from one of their many hiding places around the house, or the garden!
Final verdict 5/5
Lauren, Seren and Chloe
We’ve never tried Dreamies in our household before, however, a lot of cats in the Animal Friends family swear by them. We loved the packaging and Seren and Chloe were desperate to get their heads in the pack when they arrived. They were really drawn to the smell of these treats and their noses remained glued to the pack when I tried to open it.
