Make your own frozen dog treats

With summer here, we decided to look into some delicious frozen dog treats for our four-legged friends. There’s nothing better than hearing the chime of the ice cream man coming down the street on a hot summer’s day. But for our pets, our ice cream is not the healthiest treat, even if they do drool at the sight of one! So, we decided to try making our own frozen doggie treats so they don’t feel left out.

We ordered a paw print mould and it arrived the next day, handy for a random heatwave. You could even use an ice cube tray or a cake tin. You will need a selection of dog-friendly food to make your perfect frozen dog treats.

In our basket, we had: bananas, peanut butter, low-fat Greek yogurt, strawberries, and blueberries. Buying a good variety of dog-friendly food means you can mix-and-match to make different batches of treats to last the summer. Of course, we always advise that you talk to your vet before introducing any new food groups into your dog’s diet. Please remember that these recipes are considered treats, we advise you should limit the amount you give your pet and that it is part of a balanced diet.

Ingredients

• 1 banana
• 3 heaped teaspoons of peanut butter
• 113 grams of yogurt

Instructions

All you need for this is a blender! (You could even use a fork, but it might result in achy arms.) You just whiz or mash them together and they’re ready to be heaped into half of the mould.

The next batch we made were some icy bites. With these, you just need to fill the blender again. This time you need a handful of strawberries, a handful of blueberries, and 113g of yogurt. Once it’s all mixed together just fill the rest of the mould and pop them into the freezer for up to 3-4 hours. It really is that easy to make frozen dog treats, and they’re healthy too!

Marvel really enjoyed his frozen treats.
